Social Media Campaigns

annayoung74

Social media transforms public relations into a communication channel that represents interactions. Unlike traditional media, it creates engagement with audiences which create ideal campaigns. Social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook, these enable organizations to share stories and answer questions in real time. When creating a media campaign, it requires thoughtful planning. It's important to have a clear vision and goal, which means every post should have a specific purpose. Consistently being on point with visuals creates instant recognition. Using impactful messages will allow for social media users to not scroll as fast and pay attention to what is being presented.

Every platform has a different audience, but it's important for a brand voice to be consistent. For OU Recruitment Services, this is meaning there needs to be a balance of professionalism and encouragement, while highlighting excellence in academics. All posts should reflect the welcoming culture and inclusivity that is represented at OU. The best tool to use for public relations professionals is Canva. Canva offers a variety of templates and tools to make easy content without needing to understand advanced design skills. In my campaign, I used Canva to ensure each graphic is consistent, but also adapting to the different dimensions and platforms. This project showed how social media is not only a tool, but it's an engagement platform in two ways. Using strong visuals and important messages allows public relations practitioners to create meaningful campaigns that inspire change and engagement.
